Earlier in the month, a group of 10 ladies from work attended a breakfast at the Table Bay Hotel at the V&A Waterfront. It was called the "Women of worth" breakfast. We were treated to a marvellous breakfast and a goodie bag (got to love those!!!). There were two guest speakers: Pnina Fenster (editor of Glamour magazine) and Tumi Makgabo (she used to be an SABC presenter and then spent 5 years at CNN) who is heading up the communication portfolio for the FIFA World Cup Soccer in 2010. It was a most enjoyable morning. They had a lucky draw (about 20 prizes) and yours truly won herself a 6 month subscription to Glamour magazine!
Last Monday I was listening to the radio and they were giving away 20 double tickets to see a show at the BMW Pavillion theatre. I sms'd in and on Wednesday I got a call to say that I'd won tickets to see the show that evening. We went to see "Now you has jazz" with Amanda Tiffin and The Little Big Band. It was an absolutely fabulous evening. They performed a selection of the world’s best loved jazz standards as they told the story of where jazz started and where it is now. We heard music by some of the greatest jazz composers, including Duke Ellington, Gershwin, Cole Porter and Horace Silver. She even performed a song by Norah Jones (one of my favorite artists).
